General
Delivery is an all Gospel Bluegrass band based primarily out of the
surrounding areas of Rosine, KY. Rosine is the internationally known
birthplace of Bill Monroe, the Father of Bluegrass music, and the author
of many Bluegrass Gospel standards still sung today.
The band consists of Glenn Taylor, founder of the group, who plays guitar and sings bass. Vivian Taylor sings lead and fronts the group. Cindy Casey sings harmony and plays upright bass. Dick Casey plays banjo, Dobro and provides back up vocals while Lindsay Matthews doubles on fiddle and mandolin. The Group is a member of
the Bluegrass Gospel Music Association headed by The band writes much of it's own material and may be described as having a traditional but high energy approach to its music. " We don't try to be like or sing like anyone else. The energy, the vocal combinations and our ability to switch up on various instruments gives us a unique style and sound that has been warmly received by people who enjoy other forms of Gospel music as well as Bluegrass," a spokesman commented. The group released it's
first recording, " In Mercy And Love" in March 2001. Glenn
Taylor wrote the title cut as well as the "We are blessed with good songwriters and powerful vocalists. We have enough material left over for future recording projects so we are now focusing on our schedule of upcoming performances," the spokesman concluded. Meet General Delivery: Dick
Casey-
Banjo, Third Harmony. Dickie has been involved in music all his Cindy Casey
has also been in music for over 30 years. Glenn Taylor is the founder of General Delivery. He started playing at the age of 38. Relatively new to the group format, he has given so much. He writes a lot of our material, plays bass and rhythm and sings bass as well. He also handles bookings and interviews for us. He is our workhorse and look to him a lot. Glenn restores antique furniture as a hobby and a business. He and Vivian enjoy flea markets and like to travel the back roads looking for antiques and seeing the sights
Heather Norwood is not only a talented musician, but an excellent student and just a great joy to be around. She plays with us as much as possible, but she is always in demand. We love and support her in her pursuit of her musical career. Thanks for the great job Heather. General
Delivery was born in November of 2000 in the back of the Rosine General
Store. All but one member of this group had sung southern gospel for
over 20 to 30 years. Glenn Taylor who is the founder, loved Bluegrass
Gospel, but wanted a mix of harmonies to create a unique blend of grass
and southern sounds. Three of the members had sung When we came together we felt God's blessing on it. It has been a challenge and joy at the same time. We have been
given many opportunities to spread the gospel in some areas We truly
enjoy what we do and we hope the joy of singing for our Lord lifts
people up. We love to have fun with our audiences. We want to leave them
with a warm feeling and to encourage them We thank everyone who've helped General Deliver to be o the airwaves in several states and we hope we can continue to go farther across this country. We thank all those who've bought our tapes and CD's. We are thankful for the I.B.M.A. newsletter for giving us a nice review. As a result we have sent several CD's overseas as well to many states. We also thank the newspapers for their kind articles and and the radio station interviews. We realize
we still have a lot to learn, and we must continue to work hard for our
songs to be in a viable market. we have several great songs that we
